I'm not one to want to do this blogging thing with others around, simply because I'm trying to use this as a journal, and no one wants those that *may* be mentioned in the journal to read said journal. So I've been neglecting you, dear bloggy. My dearest Other Half (or OH) has scarcely made himself...er...scarce in the past couple of weeks in order for me to organize my thoughts enough to make a (somewhat) coherent post. Combine that with a long (well, three nights, but damn long enough) visit from OH's grandparents, and I barely had time to go to the restroom alone without someone asking where the frying pan was, how do I turn on the television or why did you elope and deprive the family of a proper wedding?
It's been rough.
I love the grandparents (or GP's), as I've never had a relationship with my own, but they drive us both crazy. It's very nice that they made the effort to drive here to see us, but please don't show up a full day early, or lecture us about how absolutely selfish is was of us to elope. And, now that I'm their granddaughteter, they MUST 'rectify the situation' of us not having a 'proper wedding' by throwing us a big, family (his, not mine) laden party next time we go 'home' and that's they way it is. Almost makes me contemplate divorce.
I know running off to Vegas to get married is a bit, well, unusual, I suppose, but neither of us likes being the centre of attention and neither of us wanted a big party and neither of us wanted to wade through wedding presents..... and besides, we've lived together for SIX YEARS. Seriously, it's a piece of paper that ensures the other is taken care of in the event of something really crappy happening to one of us.
Anyhow, that's my excuse for my absence. I shall stop whining for now!
